Toilet training tools for non-verbal student?

Post by JenMP » Mon Dec 03, 2018 11:29 am

Hi,

I'm wondering if Assistive Technology can help with toilet training a non-verbal child. My child is just starting to learn, and is having trouble knowing when to go, and remembering what to do in the bathroom.

Thanks!

Depending on the age and ability of your child, a smart watch can be programmed to display messages at timed intervals. For example, it would vibrate every hour to remind the child to use the bathroom. You could put drawings up on the wall in the bathroom to show the child what steps to do during bathroom time.

Video modeling has been very successful for students at our school dose students with autism. Here is an example.
